We Plants Are Happy Plants

We Plants Are Happy Plants are making some very cool, very interesting tunes these days. The music is cinematic, epic, flowing, complex, and best of all, emotional. I'm really happy we at Binary stumbled onto them. They create some really awesome moods.

Today we've got a great song of theirs for you, entitled "Apollo". Based on a 32nd note arpeggio that never ceases through the song, it blasts you with walls of melody throughout, creating a sense of urgency that really gives the song its legs.

We Plants Are Happy Plants - Apollo

I think the movie audio (what movie is that?) really sets the tone right away, and the music does very well to match the mood. Throughout the song I can't help but feel like something BIG is happening. The world is ending. The girl I love is getting married. Someone is dying. Something really important is going down and something needs to be done. I LOVE songs that are epic like this. Maybe Im just the kind of person that enjoys walking around, listening to music, and feeling like Im in a movie... but I can't be alone in that feeling right?

This song is perfect for a night drive when you're alone in your car. Just driving out to meet some friends at a bar in Hollywood feels like you're on your way to save the world, or maybe to save a beautiful girl.

You know what its like. You see/meet a girl/guy, and all of a sudden knowing them is the ONLY thing that matters in the world. Thats what music like this is really for.

Hi,

I never post comments on blogs because I don't think my opinion matters that much. It's still the same tonight but I really wanted to thank you for this wonderful post.

I might be too emotional tonight but the song really broke my heart, and reading your article while listening to it was quite impressive. You wrote exactly what I feel, and what I love in music. Incredible how it's exactly the images and feelings that appear in my mind when I listen to this track.I thought I was the only one with these kind of epic-moving dreams.

Very special experience.
Thank you so much.

(You may notice I'm not "english-fluent". Sorry, I'm just french; hope you'll understand)

Julien,

You've made my day, and perhaps my week. We write about this kind of music because it moves us in an elemental kind of way. I think and I HOPE that there are LOTS of people out there that feel the same way!

Thanks so much for the comment, it really means a lot!

Well put, well put.
One of your finest descriptions.

Walking around listening to music, while imagining your in a movie? Yea dude, that's like my life.

Another song that pulls you into a deep abyss similar to this is Moby's "God Moving Over the Face of the Water"...just larger-than-life.

binary,

words cannot describe how excited this post has made me feel. this song is one of those that are indescribable and need to be experienced on your own for maximum listening enjoyment. and the fact that you and others have that same "experience" when coming across these types of songs makes me happy to know that there are others who go through the same experience. this is what i love most about music, it can make you feel. you can feel any emotion. and some emotions just are not easy to describe, but easier to talk about through song. it is this emotion and feeling which keeps people sane.

thank you

I have 5 music blogs I frequent every day, and this has just become one of them.

Bookmarked. Favorited.

Great description, as someone once said:

"The real trouble with reality is, there's no background music."

Thanks for the love.

Hey Guys,

I frequent numerous music blogs and enjoy lots of music. I have yet to comment and it seems to be a common occurrence on this one. I feel exactly the same way you do about this song. It just seems like something, for lack of a better word, important is supposed to be happening. You could not be more accurate with that description. Great read and great find, I hope to see more of the same from you guys. If you are ever in Chicago give me a shout.

Thanks David, and thanks for the other comments. We started this blog, and really our entire record label based on the thought that electronic music DOES have the ability to create these kinds of emotions.

Most of the time the general music loving population writes off dance music and electronic music because it doesn't mean enough to matter.

We started the Binary blog and Binary Records really believing in this kind of music, and its power to evoke all of the same emotions that traditional pop can.

Cheers guys! What else brings these kind of feelings out for you?

Hey,

Just like Julien i rarely post on blogs for the same reason, but i after reading your post this evening, i just couldn't navigate away from this page having not told you guys how amazing this song is and how perfect your post was, it's just so fitting and...good. I believe in your cause, electronic music can evoke such emotions as the very best contemporary music, or traditional music.

I too have a blog, its super small, read only by my best mates and coming across your blog tonight has just inspired me too keep posting my honest thoughts, just like you have here, i don't know how or why.

Anyway, enough of my blabber, i just wanted to say how much i appreciate this post and this song, truly amazing. Honestly, words really just do not suffice, but this song does. It is the essence of how music should make us feel, or maybe just me, i do not know. But this is what i look to music for. The quenching of that thirst, the thirst for deep happiness. Again, this is probably just blabber, but i just want to make it clear to you guys how happy you have made me feel. I thank you binary, and We plants are happy plants.

Thanks so very much.

Hj.

Dood, you're so on point with your description of this song. I thought I was the only person that enjoyed night driving alone through LA.

Songs like these are so good for that. Super epic, just thinking about life. I've been listening to Moderat's cd a lot while driving alone at night, but this song is gonna have to take their place for awhile.

Thanks
